Rebreather Courses

Contrary to many peoples belief PADI rebreather courses have been around for quite some time. In the late 90’s PADI had Distinctive Specialty courses for Draeger Dolphin, the Draeger Ray and the Mares Azimuth semi-closed rebreathers. Although these courses never really made it main stream due to lack of popularity and the cost / benefits ratio of the semi-closed rebreathers of the time.

All that changed in 2008 when Poseidon launched Poseidon MKVI recreational rebreather. Originally called the Cis-Lunar MKVI and engineered by Bill Stone who and designed the previous five Cis-Luna models. This new fully closed CCR rebreather had so many automated functions that it made it so easy to learn to use that now anyone could dive a rebreather.

In 2011 PADI Launched the PADI Recreational Rebreather Courses followed quickly by the technical Tec CCR rebreather courses. By this time a number of rebreather manufacturers had modified or improved their rebreathers to meet the PADI Recreational rebreather requirements.

With the largest selection of rebreathers and PADI rebreather courses, Kiwidiver has set the benchmark for rebreather training in the Asia Pacific. With Try Dive Events and training courses held throughout the region introducing hundreds of people to their first breath underwater on a rebreather and providing training solutions to rebreather divers, rebreather instructors and rebreather dive centers.

PADI Rebreather courses and Rebreather Instructor courses are being conducted with Kiwidiver’s Course Director and Rebreather Instructor Trainer Kevin Black. If you are looking for rebreather training for yourself, your staff or your dive center then Kiwidiver have the experience to provide the best solution for you.

Rebreather Qualifier

Rebreather Qualifier CourseDivers wishing to cross-over to another Type-R rebreather will need to do the Rebreather Qualifier program which covers unit specific skills and knowledge.

Because each rebreather model is different, you will need to qualify on each rebreather model. However, once you are qualified you will not need to repeat the entire rebreather courses to earn your certification with a different Type-R rebreather model. The exception to this is the Poseidon Mk6 and Poseidon Se7en (Mk7) due to the fact they essentially the are the same unit and the user interfaces and responses to alarms are the same on both units.

Available on: Poseidon MK6 / Se7en. Hollis Explorer. APD Inspiration

Prerequisites:
As the PADI Rebreather Qualifier focuses on the knowledge and skills needed to use a different Type R rebreather model. Divers will be certified at their current level on the new unit.

Schedule:
1 Day Classroom / Pool
1 Day boat diving

Course cost: 26,900 Thai Baht

Padi Manual + certification fees

Tec CCR Qualifier

Because many rebreathers have different technologies and each manufacturer has designed different methods to overcome technical issues rebreather certifications are unit specific. It is important that when you move from one unit to another you understand the differences between the units.

This means you need to qualify on each model separately – but you don’t need to retake the entire course if you’re already qualified as a Tec 40 CCR, Tec 60 CCR or Tec 100 CCR Diver. The Tec CCR Qualifier program applies unit-specific skills and knowledge to your existing certification so you can be certified at your current level on the new unit.
